Our Story

Welcome to Southern Rumors & Co. 🤍🍑

We’re Buffy and Derrike, a mother-in-law and daughter-in-law who, somewhere along the way, became so much more. We’re truly more like mother and daughter, blessed with a bond built on love, faith, laughter, and unwavering support. Through every season of life, we’ve always been there to cheer each other on, and that same family-first heart is the foundation of Southern Rumors & Co.

Like so many women, we’ve always shared a love for boutiques, custom clothing, finding the perfect outfit, and all things Southern. For years, we’d dream and talk about opening our own online and pop-up boutique, talking about the name, the style, and the vision we hoped to bring to life.

But there was always a reason to wait.

Then one day, we realized there would never be a “perfect” time. If we didn’t take the leap, our dream would always remain just that…a dream.

So, with faith in our hearts and excitement for what was ahead, Southern Rumors & Co. was born.

Our goal is simple: to bring you thoughtfully chosen pieces that help you feel confident, beautiful, and completely yourself. Whether you’re headed to Friday night football, brunch with friends, a concert, a pumpkin patch, or simply running errands, we want Southern Rumors & Co. to help you look and feel your absolute best.

Derrike Hornsby

Hey y’all! I’m Derrike, the daughter-in-law behind Southern Rumors & Co.

Back in 2012, I met Buffy, and from the very beginning, she welcomed me with open arms and loved me like one of her own. Over the years, our relationship has grown into something so much more than mother-in-law and daughter-in-law. She’s truly become a mom to me, and I’m incredibly thankful that we get to chase this dream together.

I’m married to my best friend, Landon, and am a proud girl mom to our sweet daughter, Ellie Monroe, who keeps life full of laughter and adventure. Family is everything to me, and my favorite moments are the simple ones spent together.

If you know me, you know I love all things Southern. Give me a great graphic tee, a cozy sweatshirt, a pair of boots, and a local boutique, and I’m one happy girl! I love decorating for every season, making memories with my family, and finding those special pieces that make you feel confident the moment you put them on.
