Our Story

Hey y’all, we’re Buffy & Derrike, the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law duo behind Southern Rumors & Co. 

Although, truth be told, the in-law part is really just a technicality around here. Somewhere along the way, our relationship became much more like mother and daughter. We’re family, friends, business partners, and usually the reason each other ends up with about 47 new ideas before the day is over.

And Southern Rumors & Co.? Well, it started as one of those ideas.

For years, we talked about how much we loved boutiques, shopping little Southern towns, wandering festivals, finding those pieces you don’t see everywhere else, and saying what we would do if we ever had a boutique of our own.

There were plenty of:

“We could totally do that.”

“Ohhh, but what if we did THIS?”

And our personal favorite...

“Okay, hear me out.” 

Eventually, all that dreaming and talking turned into one big question:

Why not us?

So we stopped waiting for the perfect time, took a leap of faith, and in 2026, Southern Rumors & Co. was born.

But from the very beginning, we knew we didn't want to build just another online boutique.

We wanted to build something that felt like us.

Southern, but not predictable.
Pretty, but never too precious.
A little vintage.
A little sassy.
And always with plenty of personality.

We wanted SRCO to feel like that little boutique you stumble upon and immediately love. The kind of place where you find something you weren't even looking for and think, “Well...that's coming home with me.”

And most importantly, we wanted it to feel personal.

Because there are real people behind this little business.

We're the ones dreaming up the collections, obsessing over tiny details, changing our minds, packing orders, answering messages, celebrating every sale, and texting each other at ridiculous hours because one of us just had another idea.

And when you order from SRCO, we notice your name.

When you come back again, we notice that too.

When you share one of our posts, tag a friend, leave us a sweet comment, wear something we created, or tell somebody about our little business, it genuinely means something to us.

Because you're not ordering from some giant company.

You're shopping with us.

Two women in Georgia who decided to take a chance on a dream and see where it could go.

And somehow, this little dream that started with the two of us is already becoming so much bigger.

From our signature Southern Rumors pieces and Game Day favorites to Rugged Rumors for the fellas and Tiny Rumors for the littles, we're building SRCO to have a little something for the whole family.

But no matter how much this business grows, we hope it always feels like the same little Southern shop we dreamed about from the beginning.

Warm. Personal. Welcoming.

And just sassy enough to keep folks talking.
